Robert Poulin has been the Director of Bands at Juan Seguin High School since it opened in 2002. Mr. Poulin serves as conductor of the Wind Ensemble and directs the Jazz Ensemble, Varsity and Cougar Marching Bands, and the Percussion ensemble. Prior to his selection as the first band director at Juan Seguin High School, he spent 5 years as the Assistant Director of Bands at Martin High School in Arlington and 3 years at Abilene Cooper High School in Abilene, TX.
Mr. Poulin, a native of Montreal, Canada received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Master of Music Performance in Percussion Performance and Wind Conducting degrees from Texas A&M - Commerce. He has been married to his wife Amanda since 1991 and has a daughter Madeleine and son Jean-Luc. In addition to his accomplishments as a musician, Mr. Poulin holds a black belt in Taekwondo and Shotokan karate. He also enjoys playing computer games and loves Star Wars.
Chris Evans has been Assistant Director of Bands at Juan Seguin High School since 2007. Mr. Evans serves as conductor of the Symphonic Winds and Concert Band in addition to assisting with the Cougar and Varsity Marching Bands. Prior to his appointment at Juan Seguin, he was a graduate assistant at the University of Oklahoma for four years where he assisted with the concert ensembles and the Pride of Oklahoma marching band. Before graduate school, he taught middle school in Georgia for three years.
Mr. Evans, a native of Birmingham, Alabama earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University. He earned his Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Oklahoma, and is currently ABD having completed his Doctor of Musical Arts coursework in the Summer of 2007. His professional associations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, College Band Directors National Association, Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (honorary), and Tau Beta Sigma (honorary).
Emily McKay has served as the Colorguard and Winterguard instructor for Juan Seguin High School since 2007. Ms. McKay began her drum corps career in 2003 with the Blue Knights. She then marched with the Glassmen from 2004-2007. The summer of 2008 will be Ms. McKay's final year in Drum Corps where she will be the Colorguard Captain for the Glassmen.
In addition to her drum corps experience, Ms. McKay marched Nolan Winterguard, an independent group from Austin, TX in 2006 and then spent the 2007 Winterguard season with Black Gold. Ms. Mckay also teaches Vista Ridge High School, Hendrickson High School and Leander High School.
